Going to the Azores
The excitiment is building as the departure date approaches. The sixth annual International Whaleboat Regatta will be hosted by the islands of Faial and Pico in July of 2011.
This event is much more than a boat race...aside from great competition on the water it is an opportunity to foster new relationships...to share and deepen our understanding of the shared maritime heritage of the Azores and New Bedford...and to consider possibilities for future cultural, educational, and social collaboratives.
This website is intended to inform participants, organizers, and other interested parties of plans in place for this event. Event schedules, documents such as sailing and rowing instructions can all be found within this site. Important dates such as dead lines for submitting crew lists, housing requirements, etc. are also here. Check in periodically on the NEWS page for announcements.
